John Deere Memorabilia  Auction: Columbus, Ohio, May 30, 2005
"In addition to the 1929 John Deere Tractor there are over 250 farm machinery manuals from the 1920'-1960's.  Of this number over 200 of the manuals are Operator's Manuals, Parts Lists, Parts Catalogs, Technical Manuals, Setup Manuals, and Repair Manuals.  Mr. Bullard bought them from a John Deere Dealership in Mechanicsburg, Ohio that went out of business in the early 1950's.  Given the age and quantity of the material I'm certain that there will be interest from the JD community.  There's also Farmall, New Idea, Caterpillar and other paper material in the auction.  I look forward to hearing from you."

Are antique tractor prices skyrocketing?

Prices of old tractors have skyrocketed in the past few years, according to the premier issue of Ageless Iron Almanac, a new newsletter specializing in antique farm machinery being published by Successful Farming magazine.

Greg Petersen, an authority on farm machinery acution prices, says prices are being driven up by baby boomers who farmed or those who were raised on a farm, but left to earn their livelihoods working in an office or factory.  They are buying antique tractors as a hobby that reminds them of their rural past. And for some, apparently, money is no object.

Information compiled by Ageless Iron said a John Deere Deere 60, for example, has appreciated 315 percent over the past decade. The average sale price 14 years ago of $775 was $2,377 last year.

The John Deere 630 has appreciated, on average, more than 56 percent at auction since 1992.  A John Deere model B recently sold for about $20,000 at auction, the newsletter said.
John Deere isn’t the only tractor brand with eye-popping prices. Some Ford and Farmall equipment, for example, is up between 100 to 300 percent during the past decade.
